Women will avoid sugar and fat in their diet, drink eight glasses of water each day, and purchase cream after cream to try to prevent wrinkles, wine lines, and crow’s feet from appearing on their faces. But as all of us age, our skin will inevitably begin to change; sag below the eyes and cheeks and lines will begin to form. However, more and more men and women are experiencing the benefits of neuromodulators, or as it is more commonly known, Botox injections. With VIP Medical Aesthetics, you can experience it for yourself in the comfort of your own home. Learn more about what neuromodulators are and what the benefits are.
What Are Neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators are commercially known as Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin. A small amount of botulinum toxin is injected directly into the muscle, which allows the muscle to relax. The Botulinum neuromodulator will prevent muscle contractions, which initially cause lines and wrinkles to form. The skin will gradually smooth out the skin, which will minimize the look of wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet and also prevent future wrinkles from forming. Botox injections treat several areas of the face and neck but has better results when used around frown and forehead lines, and lines around the eyes.
What Types of Neuromodulators Are There?
At VIP Medical Aesthetics, we have several neuromodulator injections, Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. The three treatments are all injectable neuromodulators and are slightly different formulas of Botulinum Toxin A. They generally have similar results, but with slight differences.
- Xeomin tends to move further and faster to work on all areas of the face. There may also be less risk of allergic reaction due to an absence of protein additives. These proteins are said to make the injection last longer but may cause the product to be less effective.
- Benefits of Dysport are that it spreads further than Botox. Many aestheticians choose this injection for when people have stopped responding to Botox. The results can be seen in two to three days using Dysport, whereas Botox results are seen seven to 10 days after the injection.
- While Dysport can be used when a larger surface needs to be covered, Botox injections can be used when a more targeted area needs attention so deeper wrinkles can be concentrated on. As patients continue to use neuromodulators, they will begin to prefer one over the other.
Results and Side Effects?
It generally takes two to three days to begin seeing changes after treatment and around two weeks to see full results; however, results depends on the product and the strength. Results will last between four and six months and the muscles movement will gradually return and lines will begin to reappear. When lines begin to reappear, though, they will be less deep because the muscle has been trained to relax. After the treatment, there may be redness or swelling, but these effects are minimal.
Aging is, of course, a natural part of life and with that comes beauty, wisdom, and wrinkles.
